a poem by Chris Nealon:

(I know prose ... )

I know prose is a mighty instrument but still I feel that plein-air lyric need
to capture horses moving

Surplus of capital; economy tanks; you get called a faggot more

On red seats all around me children learn abstraction and heckle each
other in affordable new media

“This cold world we’re in is full of fresh champagne”

Un snack sólo para mi

When I was a child I thought, In Homeric fashion I will speak to each of
you in turn while laying you low

Now I stick to fragments transmissible, perdurable and the
crossword beauty you can make from them

To all the young Apollos: I’m aiming for the intersection of your swagger
and your ashes

Not that I don’t get it: looking eagerly offends the lords of scarcity

But check those dactyls, fabulous

It’s just too hard to live as though there weren’t some other kind of
surplus

To the masters of prose: Greetings!

I will die before I worship your god

whats going on:

PINK MOUNTAINTOPS new album, Outside Love (05/05/09) on
Jagjaguwar. "Outside Love" is the third album by Pink Mountaintops, AKA Stephen McBean. The ten songs on "Outside Love" are about or influenced by "weddings in Montreal, winter, Pink Floyd's The Final Cut, Christmas albums, that one Exile song and that one Echo and the bunnymen song, the Bermuda Triangle, being depressed in the sunshine, people who haven't made out yet but will in the future, The Everly Brothers, clowns in the ceilings, and bedrooms where skinheads used to live."

congratulations to sommer for finding employment in her field of study.

A CELEBRATION OF THE CHAPBOOK: Thursday April 23rd, 2009 - Saturday April 25th, 2009.

Jason Lytle's "Yours Truly, The Commuter" (the song) is up on iTunes. the album is forthcoming. yes, orchestration.......

is it true as it has been rumored that I am currently on recess, retreat, escape, leave and break? Without a doubt. Maybe I'll make a dent in D.F.W.'s Infinite Jest. Decrease the amount of alcohol available to me in my apt. Tease people who include their middle name in their pen name.

one never knows.

earlier this week and not alone with the engines of the evening and re-examined by a break-in into my dwelling place, I along with jean-paul the big thinker huddled together and taxi'd to test our prepared rock and roll knowledge and to see the massacre that is Brian Jonestown. Prior to the Terminal 5 show, Jean-Paul knew the video of only one bjm song. I knew I needed to hear "Yeah Yeah."

I never worry
I leave it to fates
I'm not in a hurry
Already late

later

I say yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm saying Hell, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

well, anton and co. left long spillages of pleasure into the late night.
